Services offered by the CETAQ

The Club environnemental et technique Atocas Québec (CETAQ) is a voluntary coalition of cranberry growers throughout the province. The Club performs weekly scouting for destructive insects, fertilization monitoring and weed control. It also presents projects aimed at improving production management in several sectors including agro-environmental concerns and the adoption of sound agricultural practices.

SCOUTING AND TECHNICAL FOLLOW-UP (Stages 1 and 3)

• Weekly insect scouting by a sweeper during a 14-week period.
• Regular farm visits by an agronomist, depending on the contract with the grower.
• Recommendations by the agronomist concerning insects, illnesses and weeds, according to the principles of Integrated Pest Management.
• Follow-up concerning bud health and the phenological stages of plant growth.
• Research project implementation and formulation of scouting techniques.
• Farm data compilation and analysis of farm with individual seasonal assessment.
• Organization of training and terminology sessions geared toward our grower-members.
• Fax mailing of « le CETAQ vous informe » which deals with the management of ravaging pests in particular.

AGRO-ENVIRONMENTAL SECTION (Stage 2)

• Regular farm visits by an agronomist, depending on the contract with the grower.
• Implementation and annual monitoring of an Agro-environmental Fertilizat
• ion Plan and phosphorus assessment for the farm.
• Agro-environmental action plan.
• Recommendations and technical advice concerning fertilization and the evaluation of grower's needs including deficiencies in oligo-elements.
• Execution of research projects aimed at improving productivity and the development of respectful environmental practices.
• Compilation and analysis of fertilization data and information-sharing.
• Group report presenting research results at the end of the season.
• Fax mailing of « le CETAQ vous informe » dealing in particular with fertilization and the environment.
